"OMG! My boyfriend and I have been together for THREE WEEKS. We are getting married once we finish middle school!"

And yes, I'll admit there ARE people who dated in middle school that later got married and really DO love each other. (My aunt and uncle were the first people they dated in Junior High and they've been married for almost 25 years)

But holy frak, there are WAY too many little teenyboppers running around thinking that they're going to find their (sparkly) soul mate and stay together FOREVER AND EVER. And when their boyfriend breaks up with them for being clingy they sob and contemplate suicide because he was JUST THAT IMPORTANT.

What they are feeling is called infatuation not "love".

I'm 14 and I've been with my boyfriend for almost a year now and I can quite frankly say that I'm in love with him. It just has to do with how mature the person is, if they go around saying "yoloswag", then no, they are quite possibly not in love, since their mind cannot comprehend simple sentences, let alone something as divine and rare as true love.

I quite disagree. I x3 I think young love is more common than you think. Unfortunately it is overrun by the 'sparkly forever love' seekers.

What I think is that there's a big difference between love and infatuation, and the younger we are, the harder it is for us to tell the difference.

Love,
Met him at age 16, together at age 17, still together at age 19 and counting. I believe.

Thank. You. I hate people in my grade who date, I think we are WAY to young to be in relationships!
I am 14 going into my freshman year tomorrow with my class of 14 and 15-year-olds, and almost everyone dates. Wow. It's obnoxious. I am not in a relationship and I don't need or want one, not until I'm at least a senior or going into college.

When I was younger (around 5 or 6 years I think) I had a ''boyfriend'' but we just lasted a week and ''broke up'', I can't believe I was that inmature.

Currently, I'm 14 and while yes I've love to have a boyfriend someday, I'd rather wait for someone I really like/love than date the first person I see. However, I think it's possible for teenagers to have a a succesful and healthy relationship, for example, one of my friends is 16 and she and her boyfriend have been together for 2 years.

I agree so much with this xD Some people from my class are just so much like this. "OH MY GOD I LOVE HIM!" and then a month later, "HE BROKE UP WITH MEE, OH NOEZ, I WANNA DIE!" And then there are the ONE couple who actually truely love eachother.
I guess that the short lasting couples do love eachother somehow, I just don't get that kind of love.

Well, its common for girls (and boys) to be in love at as young as 10. People are always bitching about how people in this generation get crushes at a young age. For fucks sake, my mother had a crush on Jonny Farnom at the age of 10! Everyone then had crushes at a young age, not just this generation.
But yes, it gets out of hand when they date at that age, and become stupid just like you stated in the description.

Romeo and Juliet got married solely for the sake of banging...and pretty much just that.
The play was originally written as a COMEDY, but it got turned into a tragedy over time.

So...when do they talk about how much they like each other OTHER than the fact they're hot, or communicate the fact that Juliet is slated by her family to marry someone else?

I'll admit that when I did study (twice) it, it was in high school...which was almost six years ago for me.

Here's how it goes down for me:

ROMEO HAS A GIRLFRIEND. NAMED ROSALINE--a fact that is forgotten a lot. The reason why he breaks into the party, other than for boyish fun, is because Rosaline is refusing him sex (and thus he assumes she hates him...because she won't have sex with him). So he's looking for girls to compensate. And he doesn't realize until it's a little too late that the one he decides that he wants is his family's arch enemy's daughter. He barely stops to think about Rosaline's feelings...thus showing that he's not very good at relationships in his young life. Nor are her feelings touched on at all. In the version my high school did, Rosaline was the apothecary that he gets the poison from. They directed her lines as outright pissed off, probably the most of everyone that knew about the scandal. Then there's Juliet, who pretty much isn't allowed to do anything on her own. She lets Romeo have sex with her--on the condition that they marry--because she has a crazy need to rebel a little bit. And it's good that she needs to rebel, but especially for her time, it was the wrong way to go.
I talk about Romeo not thinking about Rosaline's feelings, but neither of them really, truly stop to think about what they're doing.

It's a comedy because two teenagers can't point their emotional needs in a constructive direction...and it's a tragedy because of what befalls them and their families. It's a "black comedy". It starts going bad with the deaths of Mercucio and Tybalt.

In my mind, Hamlet and Othello have the better tragic ends to their romances. Especially Othello. Those two are really rough.

I don't really think you can say that one love is "more true" than the other. Love is as true as you make it. If you ask me, I would rather live all my life with someone I love, and grow old and die with them, than just kill myself because of someone I didn't even had the time to really get to know.
I'd rather live my grandparents love story, then Romeo and Juliets. There.

Well it was certainly more dramatic.
And I think everyone would (well not my grandparents - they can't be in the same room), but the point is, she was so passionate about Romeo that and vice versa, that she would rather die then even consider living without him.
So I would say their love was probably more passionate and deep, though I would be much happier to just grow old with the one I love <3

Why can't love be passionate if a person still wants to live? I don't really think it was only because her love was passionate - she didn't have naything else to live for either. And she was kinda not that smart. I mean, if my significant other died, I would live on in their memory, because I would know that they would wish for me to be happy. You know, Titanic version, right? Didn't Rose love Jack as passionately as Romeo loved Juliet, or as any other person would? Or a mom, if her dad died, because her kids would need her?

Of course it can, but I think if you love someone so much that dying is better than living without them, you must've really really cared for them.
Please don't think I don't agree with you, I do and I think it's much better to live in their memory than die in their memory, especially if they have people who need looking after. I was just stating a point C:
(and yes lol I think Juliet wasn't exactly the intellectual type)

I'm fourteen. This doesn't apply to me

But I do actually love my boyfriend very much. I thought the crush would go away, but it didn't for around a year. Then we started going out, and it's been six months now C:

Want to know something? In the first week I met him, I could never talk my mind off of him. We were on a school trip out of the country, so I got to see him everyday. I never really took my mind off of him after that, I'd always hang out where he hung out and I'd make friends with his friends. I spoke to him every single day over Facebook chat and I was totally rejected by him. But I kept trying because I never stopped liking him, and eventually it worked :)
